For most people, the ability to excel in something is generally thwarted by a lack of basic consistency. We have a tendency to desire that quick fix, and if we do not see results immediately, we tend to fall off the wagon. I know for a fact consistency is a HUGE problem for me. When it comes to training, life, business… I have ADD. I want to do everything. This leads to a lack of focus and a lack of consistency in any one avenue.
It’s hard to see the long term benefits and commit to a schedule, for most. But if you want to get anything done, it rarely comes down to fancy ideas or techniques. Generally, it is just about consistency in moving towards your goal.
If you want to add 40lb to your back squat, you need to consistently squat.
If you want to improve in ground fighting, you need to consistently train and fight on the ground.
If you want to lose 20lb, you need to consistently make healthier eating choices and train regularly.
If you want to have a better relationship with loved ones, you have to consistently spend time with them.
It’s rarely the “flashy and sexy” that gets big things accomplished, it’s just the consistent dedication to moving towards the goal.
Take a second and set goals, then make a promise to consistently work towards that. One step at a time, but keep yourself accountable. Right down a list of things that will get you there. Focus on WHY you’re doing what you’re doing and not just on the immediate effects.
Be consistent.
Be good, train hard, stay safe.
