We’ve covered the high tackle, which again, in most cases we believe will be the most likely approach. However, we have to understand that hitting above the waist can make it a bit harder to get someone to the ground without the size, strength, or training. Doesn’t mean it isn’t very possible, just being realistic about the circumstances.
If my intention is to put them on the ground, it may be beneficial to go below the waist. By committing violently to the knees there is a really good chance to take them down especially if they are completely blindsided. BUT… by going to the legs we get further away from the weapon.
